You can qualify for the scheme in one of two ways:

·          Core Group, you don’t need to apply

·          Broader Group, you will need to apply

Core Group

You qualify for the Warm Home Discount as part of the Core Group if you receive the Guaranteed Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you also receive Savings Credit). To receive your rebate from So Energy, you would need to be a So Energy customer before 5 July 2020.  

Broader group

To receive the Warm Home Discount under the Broader Group, you can apply via your online account if you receive one of the following benefits and meet one of the additional eligibility criteria listed that we have agreed with Ofgem (the regulatory body for energy suppliers) :

1.      You receive Income Support and one of the following:

(a)   You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or a child under the age of 18 who is in full time education and normally lives with you.

(b)   You receive child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element.

(c)    You receive a disabled child premium.

(d)   You receive a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium.

(e)   You receive a Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you. 

(f)   You receive a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium.

(g)      You are aged 65 or over.

2.      You receive Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IR ESA) which includes a support component or is a member of the work-related activity group and one of the following:

(a)   You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or a child under the age of 18 who is in full time education and normally lives with you. You receive child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element

(b)   You receive a disabled child premium.

(c)    You receive a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium.

(d)    You receive a Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you. 

(e)   You receive a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium.

(f)   You are aged 65 or over.

3.      You receive income-based Job Seekers Allowance and one of the following:

(a)   You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or a child under the age of 18 who is in full time education and normally lives with you

(b)   You receive child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element

(c)     You receive a disabled child premium

(d)   You receive a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium

(e)   You receive a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium

(f)      You are aged 65 or over

4.      You receive child tax credit by virtue of an award which is based on an annual income not exceeding £16,190 and one of the following:

(a) You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or a child under the age of 18 who is in full time education and normally lives with you.

(b) You receive child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element.

(c) You receive a disabled child premium.

(d) You receive a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium.

(e) You receive a Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you.

(f) You receive a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium.

(g)  You are aged 65 or above.

5.      You receive Universal Credit, and have an earned income of between zero and £1,349 in at least one of the twelve preceding assessment periods and one of the following:  

(a) You have limited capability for work or limited capability for work, and work-related activity

(b) You are in receipt of the disabled child element

(c) You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or under the age of 18 in full-time education who normally lives with you.

(d) You are aged 65 or over

(e) You receive a disabled worker element or severe disability element, Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you.

(f)) You get the housing element as part of your Universal Credit

6. You have a Gross taxable annual household Income of less than £16,190 and one of the following:

(a) You are in receipt of the disabled child element.

(b) You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or under the age of 18 in full-time education who normally lives with you.

(c) You receive a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium.

(d) You receive a disabled worker element or severe disability element, Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you.

(e) You are aged 65 or over.

(f) You are in employment.

(g) You previously served in the armed forces.

7. You receive Pension Credits covering Savings Credit only and you do not receive the Guaranteed Credit element of Pension Credit and one of the following:

(a) You have parental responsibility for a child under the age of 5 or a child under the age of 18 who is in full time education and normally lives with you.

(b) You receive child tax credit which includes a disability or severe disability element.

(c) You receive a disabled child premium.

(e) You receive a disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance for you or another adult living with you.

(f) You receive a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium.
