It only takes a few minutes to get a quote and start your switch to So Energy. After you've completed the online switching form, we'll take it from there. The only other thing we'll need from you is opening readings, which we will ask for before you're due to come on supply (we'll send an email reminder about this). The whole process from start to finish should take 5 working days.

Have you just moved in?

If you've just moved in to a new property and want to choose your energy supplier, we'd recommend getting in touch with the current energy supplier first. If there is an outstanding debt or they don't have enough details on your account, they may delay your switch to us. If you're not sure who the current supplier is, get in touch and we'll be able to help.


  1. Day 0 - Start your switch 

    Once you’ve completed the online form, we will email you your Welcome Pack. This contains everything you need to know about your So Energy contract including your expected switch date, Direct Debit amount and your first payment date. We'll also setup your online account so you can monitor how your switch is progressing. You can submit your meter readings from this point.
  2. Contacting your current supplier 

    Your current energy supplier will be notified about your request to switch to us. They have one day to raise an objection to the switch request. You can find out more about this here. If an objection is raised, we will notify you and you would need to resolve any outstanding issues with your current supplier before the switch can be tried again. If no objection is raised, we will send you a reminder requesting your opening meter read as soon as possible but no later than by your supply start date +5 days for electricity meter and supply start date +10 for your gas meter.
  3. Day 5- Switch complete!

    Your energy is now supplied by So Energy! Your first payment will be taken around this date (the exact date is shown in your Welcome Pack). Once we've received your opening meter reading, we will pass this on for validation. Once this has been done (up to 6 weeks), they'll be sent to your previous supplier so they can generate your final bill. This means your closing reading with them should match your opening reading with us so you're never charged twice for the same energy.
  4. 14-days to change your mind

    You're completely free to change your mind and cancel your switch without incurring any early exit fees at any time up to 14 days after the day you signed up, this is called your cooling off period. You can find out more about cancelling your switch here.

Energy Switch Guarantee

We’re one of the first suppliers to sign up to the switch guarantee. This guarantee was setup by Energy UK (a trade association for the UK energy industry to ensure that the energy switching process is as smooth as possible.
